India   today celebrates  its 63rd  Republic Day. The Government announced the award of 1 Ashok Chakra  Medal . Ashok Chakra is the Highest Peacetime Gallantry Award of Republic Of India . It is Awarded for most conspicuous bravery, or some act of daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice otherwise than in the face of the enemy.  The decoration may be awarded posthumously

The President of India honoured  father of Lieutenant Navdeep Singh, who was awarded Ashok Chakra Posthumously,  on behalf of a grateful Nation on 26 January 2012 at Rajpath during the Republic Day Parade


A  total of 53 Personnel have been awarded the Ashok Chakra from 1950 till 2012.

We Salute these Great Personnel , who in many cases made the Supreme sacrifices for our Well being  and laid down their lives  to protect their Countrymen.

War Cross (Croix de Guerre) France

The Croix de Guerre decoration of France was originally created in 1915, consisting of a square-cross medal on two crossed swords hanging from a ribbon with various degree pins. It was awarded during both World War I and II and in other conflicts. The decoration was also commonly awarded to foreign military forces allied to France and Belgium.

A stamp issued 0n 22 May 1965 to mark the Golden Jubilee.

The President of India Presented Colours to Bombay Sappers on 21 Feb 1990. A Triangular stamp was issued to mark the event. The stamps were issued in sheets in Tete- beche pairs. An FDC with a tete-beche pair is shown.
