Matri Dei Cathedral of Kozhikode, built by the Portugese, is an important centre of worship. The ‘Tali Siva Temple’ is one of the temples patronized by the Zamorins, erstwhile rulers of Kozhikode and to this day remains one of the most important spiritual and cultural centres of Kozhikode. The ‘Mishkal Mosque’ located in Kuttichira, Kozhikode is one of the oldest mosques in Kerala. It was built 650 years ago by an Arab merchant, Nakhooda Mishkal, after whom it is named.
