Paradip Port is one of the Major Ports of India  serving the Eastern and Central parts of the country. Its hinterland extends to the states of Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. The Port mainly deals with bulk cargo apart from other clean cargoes. There is unprecedented growth in the traffic handled at this Port in the last five years and the Port has got ambitious expansion programme to double its capacity to meet the ever increasing demand.

Special cover was released by Honourable Minister of Shipping Mr.Vasan during Golden Jubilee celebration of Paradeep Port .

Retreat ceremony, which is a major political and tourist attraction in Amritsar. A visit to Amritsar is not complete if one does not visit Wagah to witness daily beating retreat ceremony at Joint Check post at Wagah which is about 25 Kms from Amritsar on Amritsar Lahore Road linking two major towns of Punjab. After Partition lakhs of people had trekked this road in those dark days following division of India.

The retreat ceremony attracts thousands of tourists from both sides. Indian tourists commute in buses or taxis. Tourists are made to alight about 1 km from the border and only persons with special permits   are allowed to enter close to the venue. Border Security Force(BSF) controls the area. India has built stands parallel to road which can accommodate more than 1000 people. The stand is located some 200 meters from the iron gates where ceremony takes places. Special permit holders get seats on the kerb on both sides of the road.

India’s first public sector refinery, Guwahati Refinery at Noonmati , which set the pace of industrial development in the northeast, has turned 50 years old on January 1 , 2012.”For the last 50 years, Guwahati Refinery has been at the service of the nation. Guwahati Refinery celebrate its golden jubilee.

With an initial capacity of 0.75 million metrictonne per year, the Guwahati refinery was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehruon January 1, 1962 and was dedicated to the nation as a New Year’s gift. The refining capacity was subsequently enhanced to 1.0 MMTPA and with INDMAX, the pilot plant for first in-house technology of Indian Oil, the ISOSIV and Hydrotreater the Refinery has been able produce eco-friendly fuels.

The Refinery produces various products and supplies them to the entire northeast and beyond. T
