Nobel Prize for Medicine for 2008
Two French scientists Luc Montagnier and Francoise Barre-Sinoussi and a German Scientist Harald zur Hausen were awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine for 2008 as per the announcement in Sweden on 06 Oct 2008. The French were awarded for the discovery of AIDS virus and the German for finding the virus that causes cervical cancer.
Nobel Prize for Physics for 2008
Two Japanese scientists Makoto Kobayashi and Toshihide Maskawa of Japan and a Tokyo born American scientist Yoichiro Nambu were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for 2008 for discoveries in sub-atomic particles. This was announced in Sweden on 07 Oct 2008.
Nobel Prize for Chemistry for 2008
One Japanese Osamu Shimomura and two Americans Martin Chalfie and Roger. Y .Tsien share the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for 2008 which was announced in Sweden today i.e 08 Oct 2008. They have been awarded for taking the ability of some jellyfish to glow green and transforming it into a tool of molecular biology to watch the dance of living cells and the proteins within them.
