Readers Desk – Stamp on Karunanidhi

Readers Desk – Stamp on Karunanidhi

On reading the news item on the release of stamp on M. Karunanidhi with face value of 90 Euros, I was wondering who will buy such a costly stamp.

Then I came to know that it was a misprint and the actual face value of the stamp is  90 Euro Cents i.e. 0.90 Euro which is equivalent to approximately 72 Indian Rupees.

Special Covers Ladakh International Film Festival Jun 2012-A View Point

Special Covers Ladakh International Film Festival Jun 2012 -A View Point

Three Special covers were released at  Leh on 15 Jun 2012 by J & K Postal Circle to commemorate Ladakh International Film Festival. All the three covers are shown below.

A close scrutiny of the covers reveal a small oversight which is a human error and not a Philatelic Error or rarity. It only reflects that Inexperienced hands without supervision were tasked for this job and that is why this thing happened.

Stamps used on  Cover Released after the issue of Cover  The stamps of Shekhawati and Warli paintings  used on the covers were issued on 20 Jun 2012 and cover has been released and issued on 15 Jun 2012. Hence obviously the covers were cancelled after 20 Jun 2012 under no supervision and that is why this human error took place.

We Would advise readers to Exercise Caution  while buying these covers as no Exorbitant price should be paid for such covers . It is a well known and accepted fact that most of the covers are cancelled after the actual issue date as only few covers are available on the day of issue. This happens when there is a unjustified hurry in releasing special covers every now and then.

We request CPMG  of  various Postal Circles to look into such matters as Promotion of Philately should not result in such avoidable  human errors. Training of Postal staff employed at Philatelic Bureaus is very essential.
