Kargil Divas – 26 Jul 2015
Today , 26 Jul 2015 is 16th Anniversary of ‘OP VIJAY ‘ . We at Indian Stamp Ghar pay our homage to Martyrs who laid down their lives for the Motherland. None of us can forget the “Yeh Dil Mange More ” more aptly used by our Kargil Hereos . Let us spare a thought for The Kargil Heroes and Their Families.

Naik Jadunath Singh – A Legacy
The Nation today pays homage to one of its Brave Heroes Naik Jadunath Singh who was awarded the Nations Highest Gallantry Award Param Vir Chakra on 06 Feb 1948 posthumously while defending his motherland from the evil designs of the Enemy at Taindhar in Naushera (J & K)
2nd Queen Victoria’s Own Rajput Light Infantry was redesignated as 1st Battalion The Rajput Regiment and NAIK JADUNATH SINGH fought the Battle of Taindhar as a BRAVE NON COMMISSIONED OFFICER OF 1st Rajput and was awarded the PARAM VIR CHAKRA on 06 Feb 1948.
1st Battalion The Rajput Regiment is now Known as 4th Battalion Brigade of Guards (1 Rajput) and India Post released a Commemorative stamp on 15 Sep 1998 to mark its Bicentenary.
The FDC released on 15 Sep 1998 shows a Param Vir Chakra which was awarded to Nk Jadunath Singh. A Victoria Cross awarded to the Battalion is also on the Cover.

Naik Jadunath Singh to Field Marshal Cariappa – A Legacy
Field Marshal K M Cariappa,OBE joined the First Batch of KCIO’s ( King’s Commissioned Indian Officers ) and was Commissioned in Carnatic Infantry . After seeing service In Mesopotamia he was posted to 2nd Queen Victoria’s Own Rajput Light Infantry, which became his permanent Regimental Home and he rose to become the First C-in- C of Indian Army on 15 Jan 1949 which is celebrated as Army Day by Indian Army since then.
The same 2nd Queen Victoria’s Own Rajput Light Infantry was redesignated as 1st Battalion The Rajput Regiment from 1945 to 1950 and NAIK JADUNATH SINGH fought the Battle of Taindhar as a BRAVE NON COMMISSIONED OFFICER OF the same Unit and was awarded the PARAM VIR CHAKRA on 06 Feb 1948.

It was on 06 Feb 1948 that a fierce battle was fought in Naushera and a gallant soldier of First Battalion The Rajput Regiment Naik Jadunath Singh laid down his life and the Nation bestowed its Highest Gallantry Award – Param Vir Chakra on Him. APS brought out a cover in the PVC series on Naik Jadunath Singh on 06 Feb 1978. The Nation proudly remembers him today.
