Special Cover-India-Postal kabaddi Tournament

A Special cover was released in Trichy , Tamil Nadu on 27 Jan 2010 to mark the  All India Postal Kabaddi Tournament , Tamil Nadu which was held in Trichy. The Design of Cover was approved by CPMG  , Tamil Nadu Circle , Chennai.

The Cancellation on Cover shows Kabaddi Players in action and the Rock Fort Temple in the Background.

Stamp Fiesta 2010 – The Ludhiana Philatelic Club, India is organizing a State Level Philatelic Exhibition “STAMP- FIESTA – 2010”, stamp festival of Punjab at LUDHIANA from 7^th to 9^th May, 2010 with the support of the Department of Post. The aim and objective of the exhibition is to provide a platform for both new collectors to start exhibiting and as well as existing collectors to exhibit their collection, promote every aspect of philately and demonstrate the general public, youth in particular, the cultural and educational value of philately. During the exhibition, Philatelic Workshop, Seminars, Design a Stamp competition will also be organized. The exhibition will provide an opportunity to Philatelists of Punjab and Chandigarh to participate in Punjab State Philatelic Exhibition. Philatelic dealers from all over India will also participate in this exhibition. On this occasion a set of three special covers with cancellations and a Souvenir will also be released.

Special Cancellation – India – Jai Bapu

A Special cancellation was provided at 56 APO (Army Postal Service) to Commemorate Gandhi Centenary on 02 Oct 1969 . The Cancellation which read   ‘Jai Hind ” in English and “Jai Bapu” in Hindi was provided in Black and Red Inks . The Red Ink cancellation is a rarity of sorts.

News – Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics have begun in the Canadian City of Vancouver . There are three INDIANS participating in these games  - Luger Shiva Keshavan , Skiers Jamyang Namgial and Tashi Lundup.

The First Gold Medal of the Games has been won by Ski Jumper From Switzerland Simon Ammann in the Ski Jumping NH event. This is his third Gold Medal at Olympics . Silver was won by Adam Malysz  of Poland and Bronze was won by   Gregor Schlierenzauer  of Austria.

Four Gold Medals decided till now . Korea , Netherlands , Slovakia and Switzerland have shared these first Four Gold Medals.

Ohno Apolo Anton has won his Sixth Olympic Medal – a Silver in Short Track Speed Skating Men’s 1500 metres taking his tally of Medals to Six  just one short of a record seven Medals
