Speed Post Labels Air Hubs -India Post Freighter-By India Post

India Post launched country wide services using Air India Cargo Aircraft from 13  Sep 2009. India post has been given three Boeing 737-200 aircraft’s of the 1970’s Vintage to cover the North East.

Hub at Nagpur

The three planes can together carry 40 tonnes of Mail which will be sorted at Nagpur Hub before being airlifted in AI cargo Freighter to the airport closest  to the destination of the Parcel.

The size of the domestic express delivery services is estimated at Rs 7000 crore by the Indian Council for research on International Economic relations.

Four Cargo Routes which are shown on the First Day Cover issued alongwith stamp on this service.

Mumbai – Nagpur – Mumbai

Bangalore- Chennai- Nagpur – Chennai- Bangalore

Kolkata-Delhi-Nagpur- Delhi- Kolkata

Kolkata- Guwahati- Imphal- Agartala – Kolkata.

Below two post card are displayed with Old Permanent Post Mark which was in existence till  19.09.2011. and New Permanent Post Mark which came in existence from 20.09.2011. Old Permanent Post Mark is not having date, so date cancellation is used separately with Post mark.

Along with the New Permanent Post Mark, Old Permanent Post Mark is also used these days.

Special Cover – Save Tiger – Palamau Tiger Reserve – By India Post

The Palamau tiger reserve is spread over an area of 1026 sq.kms.Though the Koel River and its tributaries run through the reserve, the animals mostly depend on man-made water holes for their needs and as a result they can be easily viewed. The leopard, tiger, elephant, Indian wolf, gaur, sambar, sloth bear and nilgai are some of the inhabitants of the reserve. Palamau was one of the first nine Tiger reserves constituted in 1974 under Project Tiger. The first Tiger census in the country was conducted in Palamau way back in 1932 and 38 Tigers were counted which decreased to 17 in 2007. Saving Tiger is very important for maintaing ecological balance and forest conservation.

Special Cover – Vishnupad Mandir & Pindadan – By India Post

The Vishnupad Mandir at Gaya in Bihar located along the Falgu river is about 225 years old with the present day structure which was rebuilt by Devi Ahilya Bai Holker, the ruler of Indore, in 1787 with large gray granite blocks jointed with iron clamps. The footprint of Lord Vishnu marked in the temple is known as “Dharamshila”. :Shradhakarma” or “Pindadan” at Gaya is performed for salvation of spirits of ancestors.

Special Cover – Heritage Landmarks of Kozhikode – By India Post

Matri Dei Cathedral of Kozhikode, built by the Portugese, is an important centre of worship. The ‘Tali Siva Temple’ is one of the temples patronized by the Zamorins, erstwhile rulers of Kozhikode and to this day remains one of the most important spiritual and cultural centres of Kozhikode. The ‘Mishkal Mosque’ located in Kuttichira, Kozhikode is one of the oldest mosques in Kerala. It was built 650 years ago by an Arab merchant, Nakhooda Mishkal, after whom it is named.
