Jersey issued a set of Five stamps on Ships to mark the Bicentenary of the First Government mail Packet on18 Oct 1978. The First Government mail Packet came about when France entered American War of Independence against Britain in 1778. In 1794 the British Post office Inaugurated a weekly mail service between Weymouth and St Helier with two sailing cutters. The stamps on the FDC are

6p – Mail Cutters , 8p – Flamer , 10 1/2p – Diana , 11p – IBEX , 13p -Caesarea.

Ireland issued a sheetlet on03 Sep 1998 containing three strips of 4 Se-tenant stamps on Irish Postboxes . All are 30p issues. The Postboxes are

Great Britain issued a miniature  sheet with four Stamps on Letter Boxes. The letter Boxes shown are those hung during the reigns of Queen Victoria ,    George V , Edward VII and Queen Elizabeth II. These stamps depict the Two hundred Years of History of leetter boxes.

Ist Class – The Box pertains to reign of George V . Cast In London by W Allen & C0 between 1933 and 1936 it stands in use at Cookham Rise near Maidenhead , Berkshire.

56 p – Box on stamp Belongs to first decade of 20th Century and reign of Edward VII, Commonly known as Ludlow after James Ludlow and Sons who made these boxes, the example on stamp is from Bodiam, East sussex.

81 p – this stamp carries the oldest Letter Box, the 1896 Box one of the 300 introduced carries the Cipher of Queen Victoria and comes from near Hythe , Kent.

90 p – The letter box on stamp is from Queen Elizabeth’s reign made in 1962 or 1963 and located in Slaithwaite near Huddersfield.

There are about 114,000 letter Boxes inuse in Britain . The oldest surving letter box was hung in the wall of a Post Office in Wakefield on 1809 and shown on the miniature sheet.

Sir Mark Cubbon was born in Isle Of Man on 02 Oct 1785. He was granted Cadetship in Indian Army in 1801 and took Mysore as his second Home . He was appointed Commissioner of Mysore in 1834 and rose to the rank of Lt General in 1854. A sound administrator the Province of Mysore remained calm even during 1857 under him and the Cubbon Park in Bangalore is named in his honour.

Isle of Man issued three stamps in his honour on 02 Oct 1985 to mark his Birth Bicentenary. Two of the three stamps are related to his association with India.

A new type of alignment mark has been seen along with Traffic Lights on stamps printed at ISP, Nashik.  NINETEEN (19) Issues of 2009  were issued with this  new type of alignment mark. The Eighth  Issue of 2010 with this TL mark is Princely state issue. (stamp nos 25 to 28 with this type alignment mark)

Old Type – one horizontal line ,one vertical line  cutting the horizontal at 90* to divide into four quadrants and a circle in Centre.

New Type -  A square divided into four quadrants by one horizontal and vertical line intersecting and a smaller square inside which is totally shaded black.

India Post issued a set of Four stamps and a Miniature Sheet on Princely States on 06 Oct 2010. This issue is part of INDIPEX – 2011 PROMOTION .The states are Indore (Holkar) , Bamra , Sirmoor and Cochin Anchal.

INDIA POST had issued the CWG 2010 stamps on 03 Oct 2010 with Rupee denomination in new design but again the denomination in Princely state issued on 06 Oct 2010 is in old Pattern ’500′.

A Special Cover was released on 02 Nov 1982 to mark the 3rd Anniversary of Postal Museum  & Philatelic Library Calcutta (Kolkata). The Cancellation shows the Museum and Illustration shows Early Ship carrying Overseas Mail.
