The crowds were large due to a holiday in Schools & Offices . A number of school Children were seen in the exhibition hall which was good for Philately. A Cultural  show was held for them .

Release of  Special Covers – Three Special covers were released today to mark Cultural and Heritage Day. The cancellation depicting QUTAB MINAR was same for all covers. The covers have been listed today – The quality of cancellation speaks for itself – there is a large scope of improvement  in this aspect.

RESULTS - Results were declared today and pasted on the Boards. The Participants had two disappointments  - Firstly the list was typed in such a small  font that it was practically impossible  to read .People were struggling to read their results . Surely a better way to display results can be found.

Secondly the results disappointed many exhibitors as in some cases the award was much lower than the award at previous International Exhibitions even after revised collections.

INDIPEX -2011 SHOW DAILY – Mr Vijay Seth , Vice President West Delhi Philatelic Club and his team are bringing out a daily Bulletin on INDIPEX 2011 activities . It is aptly named -  INDIPEX -2011 SHOW DAILY. FIFTH ISSUE HIT THE STANDS TODAY. Issues in attractive color format have been brought out till today. IT IS THE OFFICIAL SHOW DAILY. Our heartiest congrats to him and his team for an excellent effort.

Passport – Passport was issued today  and a large number of visitors  and Collectors were seen pasting stamps and getting cancellations done from Foreign Postal Administration stalls . These stalls had good sales as minimum cost of stamps for Passport varied from Rs 20 to Rs 50 whereas you could get Indian Stamp worth Rs 5/- cancelled on Passport. A leading Postal administration apparently does not have a catchet to cancel the Passports. Updates after verification .

Personalised Stamp The Demand was low ,the queues smaller and easily available today.

Stamps on 100 Years of Airmail. Stamps  were available today  . Miniature sheets not yet seen in INDIPEX 2011 venue Postal Counter .

Stalls at Exhibition Complex – Stalls of Dealers and Foreign Philatelic Postal Departments were buzzing with activity. INDIPEX Stamps /Miniature sheets/Covers  issued by USA, Germany, Pitcarin Islands , Malaysia   were seen in the Postal Counters.

Exhibits – The hall where Exhibits were displayed was buzzing with people trying to understand and see the collections which was a great sign. The crowds were bigger in number due to Holidays.

Flown Covers – Covers Flown from Allahabad to Naini were being sold for Rs 1000 with Autographed cover costing Rs 5000/-.  Post card stamped but not carried and flown being sold for Rs 500 by INDIA POST.

The unexpected rains worked as a dampner today. The crowds after the weekend were thin. A large number of school Children were seen in the exhibition hall which was good for Philately. A magic show was held for them , Books and Badges of INDIPEX were distributed free of Cost to them.

Todywala Auctions – The Second Todywala auction was held in the evening . Hectic bidding for items was seen and good items were on  offer to the Collectors , Investors and others. Modern India items seem to be attracting more number of Bids. It was well organised and good learning experience for the Youngsters.

Legendary Heroines of  India – The Covers , Stamps and Miniature sheet were available today in Exhibition hall.

Mr Deepak Modi of Jalna has exhibited a book entitled ‘Beautiful Miniature Sheets of India” in the literature class of INDIPEX 2011. This is a fantastic effort by the Young Philatelists which shows his tremendous love for Philately as also his in depth research and knowledge on the subject. It is a hard bound fully colored and illustrated book.

We wish his maiden venture all the best and hope to see many more such endeavours in future.

Time out magazine of Delhi has carried information West Delhi Philatelic Club and on Philately in in its issue dated Sept 17-30 2010. This magazine has a circulation of  30,000 in Delhi.

A Article in INDIAN EXPRESS Newspaper was Published on International  Collectors’ Society of Rare Items  (ICSRI) . It was Founded in 1995 with Seven Members and now has 150 Life Members . Thirty of their members have found a mention in Limca Book of Records . The Secretary of the Society Mr Pratisad Neurgaonkar is a Collector of Postal Stationery of India printed since 1856 and has even written an excellent Book on Postal Stationery of British India 1856-1947.

Hockey is National Game of India . Most of Indians  Complain that Hockey does not get its due and always plays second Fiddle to Cricket – even Tennis and Golf get more attention than Hockey . But when opportunity comes our way to promote and popularise this game we falter.

2010 World Cup Hockey is being hosted by India at Delhi from 28th Feb 2010. India defeated Pakistan in a thrilling encounter on 28th Feb 2010 and all of us enjoyed a wonderful game and praised our team.

I wish INDIA POST had issued  one or two stamps to mark or commemorate this event . It is a World Level Tournament where we have to tell the World lot of things

Firstly – India is a Great Country capable of Hosting a World Class event

Secondly – India is still GOOD at Hockey and we love this game as a Nation

Thirdly – We can also host Commonwealth Games inspite of all adverse Publicity.

I think a Golden chance has been missed by INDIA POST to issue a stamp on an International Event about which we are  aware of  since the last 3 Years. It could have been easily included in 2010 Issue Programme.

The next meeting of West Delhi Philatelic Club is scheduled to be held on 06 Dec 2009 at the same venue.
