Mr Pranab Mukherjee , Finance minister Of India released a set of Coins ( Rs 100 + Rs 5 ) on Former Union Minister Dr C Subramaniam on 28 Aug 2010 at Coimbatore , Tamil Nadu . The First Coins were presented to Dr Subramaniam’s Daughter Ms Aruna Ramakrsinan and Son Mr S Rajasekhar.

Dr Subramaniam was Awarded Bharat Ratna in 1998.

Monnaie de Paris will issue one Silver and Four Gold Coins to mark the Centenary of Mother Teresa in 2010.

The obverse shows Mother Teresa Carrying  a Child and reverse shows Mother Teresa with Pope John Paul II.

Finance Minister of India Mr P Mukherjee released a Five Rupee Coin on 28 Aug 2010 on Mother Teresa . The First Coin was presented to the President of India HE  Mrs Pratibha Patil.

In 2010, the United States Mint will issue 56 quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites as part of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program.

The five quarters to be released in 2010 will honor Hot Springs National Park Arkansas, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Yosemite National Park in California, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona and Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon.

The World’s Largest Gold Coin weighing 100 Kg was sold at an auction at Vienna in Austria’s Famous Dorotheum Auction House on 25 Jun 2010. It has Face value of $1 Million Canadian Dollars and diameter of 21 Inches (53 Cms). It was won  by Spanish Precious Metal Trading Company  ORO DIRECT .

The Price realised was $4 Million. The design of Coin – one side shows three maple Leaves and other side image of Queen Elizabeth II.

Two coins on Bhagat Singh released by Reserve Bank of India – Proof Set isshown . RBI has started despatching these sets.

A US Nickel dubbed the “Mona Lisa of Rare Coins ” was recently auctioned for     £ 2.3 Millions . It was 1913 Liberty Head Coin depicting an American Indian.

As per reports in section of Press the RBI is likely to release Commemorative Coin to Commemorate 1000 years  Of  Lord Brahadeeswara Temple at Thanjavur (Tanjore). The request of TN CM has been accepted by Central Govt.

The Reserve Bank of India has informed in a Press Release that it will soon put into circulation New Commemorative Coins of Rs 5 Denomination (Nickel – Brass) to  Commemorate ” 60 Years of Commonwealth”

The US Presidential $1 Coins

The United States is honoring its Presidents by issuing $1 coins featuring their images in the order that they served in office.  The United States Mint is issuing four Presidential $1 Coins each year, with Presidents Fillmore, Pierce, Buchananand Lincoln being honoured in 2010.  Each coin has a common reverse designfeaturing the Statue of Liberty.  These coins show the year of minting, or issuance, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mint mark.  In 2009 “In God We Trust” was moved from the edge to the face of the coin.  The size, weight and metal composition of the Presidential $1 Coins are identical to that of the Sacagawea Golden Dollar and the Native American $1 Coins.
