Design – 3/16

During Rajpex 2012, 16 designs of Rajasthan important places were introduced.

Ranakpur is a small village in the state of Rajasthan in India. The place is famous for its Ranakpur Temple, which has some splendid carvings and architecture. Built during the 15th Century, these temples are an exquisite example of fantastic architecture. The temple has been carved in Amber stone and has marble interiors. The Ranakpur Jain temple is an important pilgrimage of the Hindus. The Ranakpur temple is dedicated to Adinath or Rishabhji who was a famous Jain Tirthankara.

The massive temple is spread across an area of 48,000 square feet and has 29 huge halls. The temple has four openings opposite and adjacent thus symbolizing the four faced image of Adinath. A splendid creation, one has to visit the temple to bask in the breath taking beauty and astounding carvings.

Design – 2/16

During Rajpex 2012, 16 designs of Rajasthan important places were introduced.

Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur is one of the largest forts in forts. It is also the most magnificent fort in Jodhpur, infact, in the whole Rajasthan. The fort is amongst the popular tourist places in India. It is situated on a 150 m high hill. It was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459. The Mehrangarh Fort can be reached from the city, 5 kms below, through a circular road.

Jodhpur Mehrangarh Fort History is related to Rao Jodha. He became the fifteenth Rathore ruler in 1458. One year after his accession, Jodha was advised to move his capital to a safer place. The one thousand years old Mandore fort was slowly and gradually deteriorating. This led to the foundation of Mehrangarh Fort.

During Jammu Stamp Show-2011, 25 designs of Buddhist Heritage Sites in J&K were introduced.

Korzok, is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery belonging to the Drukpa Lineage and ancient villageon the western bank of Tsomoriri Lake in Leh District, Ladakh. The highly revered monastery is 300 years old. The Tsomoriri Lake in front of it is also held in reverence, and considered equally sacred by the local people. With the efforts of the WWF-India the Tsomoriri has been pledged as a ‘Sacred Gift for a Living Planet’ by the local community (mostly Chang-pa herdsmen). As a result, the area has been opened up for tourists.
