Special Cover – 375 Year Old Banyan Tree At GSFC, Vadodara – By India Post
Issued during Gujpex – 2011 Philatelic Exhibition held in December 2011.
GSFC is a leading manufacturer of fertilizers, agro-products and plastics in the country. Headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat, it has other units located at Jamnagar and Surat. Vadodara derives its name from a Sanskrit word “VATODAR”, meaning ‘in the heart of the Banyan Tree’. GSFC has nurtured this legacy by being host to a ‘Great Old Banyan Tree’. This , approx. 375 years old tree, has witnessed a traverse of time from the Gaekwad regime to modern India. It is witness to conversion of its surrounding from verdant green fields into a big industrial conglomerate. GSFC takes great care to maintain this priceless heritage.
