India today celebrates 60th Anniversary of Republic Day. The Government announced the award of 1 Ashok Chakra Medal . Ashok Chakra is the Highest Peacetime Gallantry Award of Republic Of India . It is Awarded for most conspicuous bravery, or some act of daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice otherwise than in the face of the enemy. The decoration may be awarded posthumously
Three Award winners including two Posthumous were honoured by The President of India on behalf of a grateful Nation on 26 January 2010 at Rajpath during the Republic Day Parade

A total of 54 Personnel have been awarded the Ashok Chakra from 1950 till 2010.
We Salute these Great Personnel , who in many cases made the Supreme sacrifices for our Well being and laid down their lives to protect their Countrymen.
