Special Cover -Joint services East Nepal Expedition
A Special cover issued by Jersey also known as Manaslu Cover commemorating the First British Ascent of Manaslu North ( 23,500 ft) ,East Nepal on 10th May 1983 by Members of the Joint Services Team sponsored by Bedford Trucks. The Cover is aotugraphed by Team members and cancelled on 15 Aug 1983. The team members were from Royal Navy , Royal Marines and Royal Air Force.
Total 4000 covers were issued and the cover was Flown from Gatwick to Hong Kong by DC -10 , Hong Kong -Kathmandu by Royal Nepal Airlines , Kathmandu -Trisuli by Bedford Trucks and then By Team Members and Porters and on return march to Trisuli – Kathmandu by Bedford trucks , Kathmandu – Hong Kong by Royal Nepal Airlines , Hong Kong – Brize Norton by RAF Vickers VC 10.
