Stamps Of India-Third definitive series stamps of India.
India’s 3rd. definitive series popularly known as “Map of India” series issued on 1st.April 1957.Total 14 stamps are in series, in which eleven stamps are issued on dt. 1st.April 1957, two stamps on dt.16th.Jan.1958 & one stamp issued on dt.7th.May 1958.All 14 stamps carries the same design depicting “Map of India”, however Andaman, Nicobar & Lakshadweep islands are not shown in the design. This series was introduced to meet the requirement that arose from introduction of new decimal currency system i.e. 100 naye paise is equal to 1 Rupee w.e.f. 1st.April 1957.
All 14 stamps are shown in three FDCs with first day cancellation dates.
